This small oil sketch shows The Rhymney River as it flows through Ystrad Mynach, just alongside the road bridge by Tesco store.
When the store opened there was a walkable pathway alongside the river but these days the bushes and trees have almost covered the pathway.
It's a view looking South towards the coal tip with just a little licence since the area is totally overgrown, otherwise this is the scene.
The sketchiness of this painting allows the brown underpainting (visible in areas) to show through which I attempt to do.
