"A Castle fit for a king", is one description of Ruperra Castle. King Charles 1 on his visit to South Wales visited Tredegar House in Newport, Ruperra Castle and LLancaiach Fawr in Nelson. He stayed in Ruperra Castle for two nights in 1645.
It was Built in 1626 by Sir Thomas Morgan and later was absorbed into the Tredegar Estate.
