When I visited Skenfrith Castle I was pleasantly surprised to find the remains of Skenfrith mill, seen here outside the castle's wall and corner tower.
In this painting I am standing in the waterway which would have flowed from the River Monnow (on the left) to turn the wheel
and re-entered the river just a short distance lower down. The remains of a sluice gate can be seen on the left. A stones throw from here is a smashing old stone bridge which crosses the River Monnow, I'll be painting this shortly.
