This watercolour painting shows the Taff Vale Railway Viaducts in Pontypridd, South Wales. The view is taken along
Mill Street and shows the two viaducts distinguished by the single span and double span arches.
The viaducts are the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel
where the original single skewed arch of around 1841 can be seen behind
the later viaduct of around 1861 which has two spans and river pier. The Rhondda river is to the right of Mill street and is visible between the arches. The train, bound for Merthyr Tydfil has
just left Pontypridd Railway station which is a short distance to the right.
