These paintings show a local spot where I and many others of my age spent some good times in our primary years. We called this area
'The Boys' Pond'. The Cylla river flows through and where the gap in the concrete is there was a metal plate fitted , it acted like a sluice gate where the water
was held inside the plate - quite deep of us then but in the late fifties it was good fun.
The mouth of the Cylla River was at Bargoed mountain and it entered the larger Rhymney River at Ystrad Mynach.
