Lock 65 at Llangynidr. Brecon to Monouthshire canal

Here we are in July 2018 and the year so far has been taken-up with revitalising some unfinished paintings from earlier years and here is another.
This canvas was put on stretcher bars in 1983 but the painting was never completed. It was removed and left, that is until July 2018 when I decided it was worth giving the subject a second chance.
I'm glad I made the return trip since it does after all make a pleasing subject. Possible put away in 1983 when the kids came along and painting took a back seat.
Lots of activity along this lock with the painting showing a boat just leaving the lock having travelled down from Brecon.
I've shown the pencil sketch, drawn in 1983 which is typical of what I'd use for this painting.
