Hengoed high level railway station

Originally known as the Hengoed and Maesycwmmer station this view from 1964 shows the West bound train departing for Nelson and Mountain Ash. This part of the platform is directly over Hengoed low level station. The High Level station closed in 1964 and left derelect for a number of years. The station now forms part of the national cycle track and takes you over Hengoed Viaduct.
If you have any history on this station and would like to share it please let me know and I will add it to this page.
My thanks to Mr D O Packer of Ystrad Mynach for digging out and lending me details of the station. These details are not readily available so without his help this painting may not have been done.
