This oil painting shows a seventeen century stone built mill which was restored to full working order at the time of painting.
Things have changed a little which can be seen in my two later watercolour paintings.
The mill incorporates a candle and factory workshop housed in a separate building.
In 1983 I was working at South Wales Switchgear which is a short walk from the mill and during the lunch break I occasionally strolled down there.
On one visit I caught a chap working on the mill wheel and had a chat about the workings of the mill - that's why he is shown in the painting.
