Welsh Landscape paintings. Painting of Cwmdu Farm, Maesycwmmer, County of Caerphilly

This landscape of 1981 shows the veiwer looking towards Cwmdu farm, Maesycwmmer form Pengam road, Ystrad Mynach - 50 or so yards up the road from my home. The front fields no longer exist - they are now a Tesco car park. This painting was bought by the owner of Cwmdu Farm, Mrs Margaret Edwards but she died soon after receiving it. I do know that the painting was passed down within the family.
The image above isn't good because it is reproduced from a photograh.
Cumdu Farm, Maesycwmmer appears in a number of paintings shown in this Gallery.
Another view which shows the scene looking up the lane is shown in the painting of "The Magpie".
Today the view has totally changed, a by-pass cuts through the field in the foreground and the lane just visible on the left has gone.
I used a sketch of mine from the early 80's to paint this scene. Also check out the detail shown below, it shows the farm from a different view.
This detail below is from a painting "Looking South towards Caerphilly from Hengoed". It shows Cumdu Farm back in the early 90's and shows the lane leading up to the farm. The lower lane has now gone. You can just see the remains of the old Brecon to Newport railway track
