Sketching for this painting was done on the spot in 2004 then painted at home. The remains of the Newport to
Brecon railway bridge is on the left. There was a nasty bend there and after the closure of the
line the bridge was demolished and the road straightened as seen here. Bargoed viaduct is directly behind the viewer.
