This painting shows the holiday resort, Barry Island in South Wales. The viewer is looking from Friars point towards the resort. As kids, Barry Island was the place we went to on our family day trips to the seaside - no holidays then, just day trips. That was back in the 50's and 60's, steam train from Hengoed 'low level' station direct to Barry station.
